The leading search engine Google is making plans to place some merchants, with substantial numbers of consumer complaints, lower in search results.
There was some concern, in the past, that a host of even bad reviews and complaints by consumers about a particular merchant could bolster search result rankings simply because of the number of mentions or links.
Even as to “good reviews,” of course, the dirty little secret is the growing extent of how many glowing reviews are bought and paid for.
