Call me, maybe? I’ll pay for it, definitely!
Google AdWords has begun implementing a new policy that makes including a direct phone number in the text of an AdWords ad strictly verboten.
Previously, this was allowed.
Now, in order to have Internet denizens call you as a result of your ad, you have to use Google’s call extensions link.
Readers can call you only if they click on the Call button or forwarding phone number line. But then, you’ll be charged for a click.
Previously, many readers would see the phone number in the text of the ad and be able to call to order their pizza or contact the plastic surgeon without any click through being registered.
